I have been able to achieve the top leadership position in almost every organization I have ever joined and this dates all the way back to high school when I was president of the junior class at North Bend High in 1948.
One of my favorite positions was in ROTC at the University of Nebraska. In my senior year, I was promoted to the highest position in the entire Air Force ROTC. As Commander, I was the only cadet with the rank of Colonel in 1953 – 1954.
I joined several technical and lay organizations in my career as an engineer and was promoted up through the ranks in each of them, usually as one or more project chairmanships, secretary, treasurer, member of the Board of Directors, vice president and then President and past president. This was true in each of the following organizations:
NSPE – National Society of Professional Engineers
President of both the Omaha Chapter and the
Statewide Nebraska chapter (NeSPE)
ASME – American Society of Mechanical Engineers
Chairman {President) of the Omaha Chapter
and the Statewide Nebraska Chapter
PTC – Power Technology Conference
Founder and first President
SI – Serra International was founded by a group of Catholic laymen to promote and support Catholic priests and vowed religious vocations in the Catholic Church.
In 2012 I received an awarded for completing more than 50 years of service in the Serra Club of Omaha where I served as president and in many other positions.
